Course Details

Looking for a career in the motor vehicle industry or just have a passion for motor vehicles? This course is designed to meet the needs of learners who are looking to develop their motor vehicle maintenance and repair skills with a view to gaining employment in the motor vehicle industry. The qualification covers a broad range of subjects across the motor vehicle maintenance area.

Entry Requirements

You will have successfully completed a level 1 course such as the City and Guilds 4290. It is recommended that you are working towards Functional Skills Level 2 (or GCSE equivalent) in maths and English. You will also need to complete a successful interview with the course tutor.

Career options

With appropriate employment you can upgrade from the VRQ course to a QCF apprenticeship, or the next level up after completion is the VRQ level 3. Also there are many exciting career opportunities available at local franchises such as Rolls Royce.

What you need to know

What will I study?

You will have a wide range of opportunities to develop your skills both practically in the workshop and theoretically in the classroom. Time will be given for you to develop your own style and techniques. Linked to the main qualification you will also study English and maths working towards level 2 and/or GCSE. The development of your personalised enterprise passport and enrichment activities fully enhance this course.

How will I be taught?

This course runs for 2 and half days a week over 36 weeks. It is made up of 2 days of practical sessions and ½ day of theory. In addition to the main qualification you will study towards Level 2 Maths and English Functional Skills.

How will I be assessed?

The course is broken down into units where students have both a practical and written assessments. The full assessment methods will be discussed during interview.
